Keeping
Christ in Christmas
“For to us a child
is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be
called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and
upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7
This is a strange,
yet beautiful Christmas season for me this year. It’s different than my past
Christmases in that I don’t feel the earthly pull to get caught up in the
hustle and bustle of the season. This year I’m quite
content to hunker down and spend time with the One who made Christmas possible
in the first place. How are you feeling this Christmas season? Is it well with
your soul or do you need to reconnect with the Father and receive His peace and
rest?
Wonderful
Counselor
Mighty
God
Everlasting Father
Prince
of Peace
These are just some of the names of Jesus. What
are your thoughts on Jesus when you read through these names? Do you know Him
personally as these? Have you invited Jesus to be these for you? Is He your
Counsellor? Is He your Mighty God? Is He your Everlasting Father? Is He your Prince
of Peace? Take some time now to invite Him to be these in your heart today.
“An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But
the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will
cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has
been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This
will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a
manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace
to those on whom his favor rests.”
Luke 2: 9-14
Have
a blessed Christmas time this year and remember that you are deeply and wholly
loved by the God of the universe. He knows you intimately and calls you by
name.
God
bless and keep you.

novice grows deeper in the spiritual life, he not only talks softer but even
walks softer.”
